Stater Bros.' George Frahm Recognized for Educational Contributions
Stater Bros. Markets EVP of Administration and Distribution George Frahm has been inducted into the California Grocers Association Educational Foundation (CGAEF) Hall of Fame, where he joins others recognized for their contributions to the grocery industry and communities they serve.
Frahm was recognized April 6 at the Hall of Achievement Dinner, which hosted more than 600 friends, family and industry peers, and marked the foundation's 25th anniversary. As a special part of the program, the foundation paid tribute to previous honorees – the “Legends of the Industry” – who have left a lasting impact on the grocery industry.
“George has served the grocery industry his entire professional career and, like his Hall of Achievement peers, has generously given back to the communities and industry he’s served,” said Ronald Fong, president of the Sacramento-based CGAEF
Led by this year’s event co-chairs – Dennis McIntyre, Dan Meyer and Sylvia Shermer, all with the San Bernardino, Calif.-based grocer -- along with Bruce Wyatt, from Flowers Baking of California – the event raised more than $530,000 to support the foundation’s college scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs. Additionally, the program featured a speech by Albertsons Cos. employee Manuel Rosas, a CGAEF scholarship recipient.
Frahm, a strong proponent of education, has worked closely with local universities to create educational opportunities for Stater Bros. employees seeking to pursue and/or advance their educational goals. These opportunities include tuition discounts for employees, disseminating information regarding grocery-industry-related scholarships and communicating tuition reimbursement opportunities through the CGAEF.
Frahm is a past chairman of the California Grocers Association board of directors, and has served as a CGA Educational Foundation trustee. He is also an avid supporter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and regularly volunteers for the KFroggers For Kids Radiothon benefiting Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, and the Stater Bros. Charities Annual Believe Walk in the fight against all cancers in the communities Stater Bros. serves.
