Stop & Shop Offering Flu Shots

With flu season on the way, Shop & Shop Supermarket Co. has begun providing flu vaccinations at all of its in-store pharmacies. No appointment is necessary, and shots can be administered by pharmacists any time the pharmacy is open.

“Flu shots are reformulated every year, so it’s important for people to receive vaccinations annually,” noted Joel Berman, pharmacy director at Stop & Shop New England division, in Quincy, Mass.

A flu shot at the Northeast regional chain costs $35, and most major insurance plans are accepted, as well as Medicare. Customers who present a Stop & Shop prescription savings card get $10 off the regular price.

Additionally, Stop & Shop has teamed with various vendors to offer a free coupon book worth more than $40 in savings to all customers who receive a flu shot. Stop & Shop pharmacists are also authorized to hold on-site flu clinics at workplaces and businesses throughout the community.

Along with flu shots, Stop & Shop provides several no-appointment-needed adult vaccinations, including those for pneumonia and shingles.

In related news, Bi-Lo/Winn-Dixie has begun offering three flu shot options at its stores across nine Southeast states, under the chains-wide "Shield Yourself" program.

Stop & Shop employs about 60,000 associates at 400 stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York and New Jersey.
