Supervalu Pharmacies Bulk Up Nat'l Flu Prevention Measures

To meet the demand for this year's flu season, Supervalu has specially trained immunizing pharmacists available now at nearly all of the Minneapolis-based grocer’s pharmacy locations. This level of access, coupled with an ample supply of flu vaccine, makes it easier than ever for consumers to get vaccinated at Supervalu pharmacies.

Specially trained and certified pharmacists are currently able to administer the traditional flu vaccine, needle-free FluMist nasal spray and new Fluzone high dose (HD) for patients ages 65 and older during regular pharmacy hours. Supervalu’s 800-plus pharmacy locations will be able to provide flu vaccinations daily, on a walk-in basis. In addition, stores without pharmacies and some stores with pharmacies will host walk-in flu shot clinics. Contact your local store for details.

The vaccine is priced at $26.99 for either the traditional shot or the FluMist. Fluzone HD is available for $59.99. Thecost is covered by Medicare Part B and many commercial health plans, which means many Supervalu customers may not incur out-of-pocket expenses.

In addition, customers who receive a flu shot at pharmacy locations will receive a coupon book, worth at least $50 in savings, and a small sample bag with items that may help shoppers have a healthier cough, cold and flu season. These products are available while supplies last.

Supervalu pharmacies operate under 10 retail brands, including Acme Sav-on Pharmacy, Albertsons Sav-on Pharmacy, Albertsons Osco Pharmacy, Cub Pharmacy, Farm Fresh Pharmacy, Jewel-Osco Pharmacy, Shaw's Osco Pharmacy, Shop 'n Save Pharmacy, Shop 'n Save Osco Pharmacy and Shoppers Pharmacy. Shots will not be administered at Save-A-Lot, Bristol Farms or Hornbacher's.
