Tesco Fresh & Easy Reveals Date for First 6 SoCal Openings
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - Tesco said the grand openings of its first batch of six Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets are set for November 8, 2007, in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties in Southern California.
Tesco said the store openings mark a major milestone for the company, which has spent years researching and planning the Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market format.
Reiterating much of the details of the format that its has revealed earlier, Tesco said the format, at roughly 10,000 square feet, would "give customers a faster, easier shopping experience" than supermarkets.
"In addition to offering a range of Fresh & Easy private label and national brand name products at low prices, Fresh & Easy will also offer customers a selection of fresh, prepared meals," Tesco said. "Fresh & Easy has gone to great lengths to ensure all its private label products contain no added trans fats, artificial colors or flavors, and have limited amounts of preservatives. Deliveries will be made daily to each store to ensure all products are as fresh as possible."
Each Fresh & Easy store will employ approximately 20 to 30 people, it said. Entry-level positions will pay well over the minimum wage, starting at $10 an hour in California, and offer a potential bonus of up to 10 percent on topm the grocer said.
Tesco operates over 3,200 stores across 12 countries and employing more than 400,000 people.
