Tops Appoints Mark Lumadue VP Distribution

Tops Markets LLC has promoted Mark Lumadue to the position VP distribution. In his new role, Lumadue will oversee all aspects of operations at the company’s distribution centers, including grocery, perishable and freezer operations, transportation and logistics, process quality, and facilities. He will also develop and ensure the execution of long-term strategies in distribution operations.

A key Tops executive who previously held the roles of manager of supply chain and, most recently, director of logistics, Lumadue previously worked for Ahold USA and Fisher-Price.

“Mark’s extensive knowledge in operations, vendor relations and project management have already proven to be an asset to Tops,” said John Persons, president and COO for the Williamsville, N.Y.-based grocer. “Mark was also instrumental in the success of the relocation of our frozen warehouse to a new facility in West Seneca [New York] this past August. He managed the team’s efforts to re-profile and label racking, install IT systems, and created a transition plan, all while ensuring that there was no lapse in service to our stores.”

Tops operates 172 supermarkets, with five additional locations run by franchisees under the Tops banner. The grocer employs more than 16,000 associates at stores in in New York, northern Pennsylvania, western Vermont and north central Massachusetts.
