Tops Rolls Out Own-brand Spring Water
As part of its transition to being a locally owned and managed grocer, Tops Markets, LLC has introduced Tops brand Spring Water, which is sourced and bottled in the company's home region of western New York.
President and CEO Frank Curci described the new offering as a "quality, affordable product that has local origins."
The fresh spring water comes from a source in Concord, N.Y. and is bottled at Mayer Brothers in West Seneca, N.Y. The product is available in 12-, 24- and 32-packs of 16.9-fluid-ounce bottles. The 12-packs are two for $5, while the 24 pack retails for $3.99 and the 32-pack costs $4.99, spokeswoman Katie McKenna told Progressive Grocer.
Before the product launch, Tops sold water bottled and sourced from outside of the region under a different corporate brand, along with other regional and national brands. Among the other locally sourced items Tops carries are private label Italian sausage and kielbasa, according to McKenna.
Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops Markets, LLC operates 71 full-service supermarkets and five franchise supermarkets. With over 10,000 associates, the company is the leading full-service grocery retailer in western New York; central New York, including Rochester; and northwestern Pennsylvania.
