Tops Salutes African-American Achievers

In honor of Black History Month in February, Tops Markets LLC is giving customers a valuable lesson in those standout figures that have played an important role in the development of both African-American culture and American history.

Tops’ “Celebrating African American Entertainers Shining throughout History” trains the spotlight on the actions of various African-Americans known for their contributions to the performing arts. Shoppers can learn about these stars via displays within the Williamsville, N.Y.-based grocers’ stores. Among those featured are Hattie McDaniel, Dorothy Dandridge, Sidney Poitier, Gregory Hines, Stevie Wonder and Jennifer Hudson.

Additionally, in-store programming will be held at Tops locations in Niagara Falls, Buffalo and Rochester, N.Y.

Tops operates 132 full-service supermarkets -- 127 company-owned and five franchise locations -- and employs more than 13,000 associates in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania.
