Transora and UCCnet Sign Agreement to Drive Broader Industry Adoption
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. & CHICAGO - Transora, a B2B exchange for the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry, has signed a Preferred Alliance Partner agreement with UCCnet, a not-for-profit organization that provides item registry and data synchronization services.
Transora and UCCnet have made a commitment to drive adoption of their complementary solutions in response to industry demand for a clear pathway to solve data synchronization challenges. Both parties have agreed to collaborate on evolving their solutions to be compliant with the industry's vision for interoperability. The agreement focuses on implementing capabilities that exist today, and working together to realize a more efficient and effective industry model.
The agreement includes the possibility of Transora acting in one of two different roles: as a hosted content provider supplying technical support to trading partners utilizing both the UCCnet GLOBALregistry and data synchronization services, and as an exchange hub for their trading partners using the UCCnet GLOBALregistry and Transora synchronization services.
Transora's customers currently are using the Transora Data Catalogue to host a broad range of item attributes. Acting as an agent content provider, Transora uploads a subset of this data to the UCCnet GLOBALregistry where UCCnet performs compliance checks against industry standards and synchronizes data with retail partners, providing a single source for standards-compliant item information. Beginning in February, Transora began uploading data on behalf of several major manufacturers, including Procter & Gamble, Reckitt Benckiser and Kraft Foods into the UCCnet
GLOBALregistry. Item data was then successfully published to several major national retailers including Ahold, Shaw's, Wegmans and Wal-Mart.
According to the terms of the agreement, Transora will work with UCCnet to enable "hub-to-hub" interoperability of Transora's data synchronization engine as part of the exchange hub role. Under the future model, UCCnet's GLOBALregistry will continue to serve as a single repository for synchronized item information. However, companies will have freedom of choice to select the data synchronization provider that best meets their unique needs. To support this role, UCCnet will make the necessary technological and financial accommodations to enable participants to pay solely for a UCCnet registry subscription, without its data synchronization services. This will enable the industry vision of interoperability to become a reality.
