UNFI President of Specialty Distribution Retires; Specialty Foods Prez Named
DAYVILLE, Conn. -- United Natural Foods, Inc. here said Robert A. Sigel, president of specialty distribution, will retire March 14 to pursue other interests. It also said it has named Casey Van Rysdam president of specialty foods.
Sigel joined UNFI when it acquired Millbrook in November 2007. He had held several management positions at Millbrook, most recently serving as president and c.e.o., and played an important role in making Millbrook a full-line distributor with a substantial specialty food business and a broad selection of HBC items.
Van Rysdam has been with the company since December 2007, and most recently was UNFI's v.p. of business development. In his new position, he will report to Richard Antonelli, UNFI's e.v.p., c.e.o., and president of distribution. He has over 30 years of experience in the specialty/natural/organic food industry, having earlier served as a regional president of both Tree of Life Southeast and Tree of Life Canada. His prior responsibilities have also included brand management and international business development.
UNFI distributes more than 40,000 products to over 17,000 customers nationwide. The company serves a wide variety of retail formats, including conventional supermarket chains, natural product superstores, independent retail operators, and the foodservice channel.
