Unified Grocers to Resell BRdata’s Solutions
Regional wholesale grocery cooperative Unified Grocers yesterday inked an agreement with technology vendor BRdata to market BRdata’s Retail Back Office Software Solutions (BOSS) to its retail members and customers.
BRdata now joins the Unified portfolio of preferred back office store solutions and is the first preferred hosting solution for Unified Grocers, according to BRdata.
“Within the first month, one of our large retailers in Seattle adopted the hosting solution,” says Brian Legate, manager, preferred point of sale products with Unified Grocers. “We’ve had success with other retailers in California, too. Implementing this type of product in a store is extremely challenging. The hosting installations that we’ve been involved with have been very organized and the folks at BRdata have been receptive to improvements and suggestions.“
Unified Grocers learned of the capabilities of BRdata’s software when they acquired Associated Grocers (Seattle), which had a large install base of retailers using the BRdata solutions. Unified was interested in BRdata’s ability to offer tightly-integrated hosting and store retail solutions, such as its thin-client DSD, which enables a store’s back-door receiving via PCs and RF handhelds to communicate directly to the host rather than going through the store’s system.
“Unified seeks technology partners that offer high-quality solutions and a level of customer service that our retailers have come to expect,” Legate says. “We look at how well a vendor’s product takes advantage of momentum that’s surging through the field of technology.”
