United Supermarkets Raises $5,500 for Breast Cancer
United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos United locations raised nearly $5,500 for the fight against breast cancer during the company’s annual “Who Do You Pink For?” promotion.
The funds raised will be shared between the CURE Cancer Foundation of Lubbock and the Komen Greater Amarillo Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
“We are supporting the CURE Cancer Foundation and the Komen Greater Amarillo Affiliate with their missions to find a cure for breast cancer,” said Shelby Crews, community relations manager for United Supermarkets, LLC.
The CURE Cancer Foundation is committed to funding translational cancer research with the end result being the total eradiation of cancer as a major cause of death. Komen Greater Amarillo Affiliate is part of a network fighting to end breast cancer forever and has invested more than $1 million in community breast cancer programs in the 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle.
During October, store guests purchased specially marked products and pink reusable bags – with a percentage from each sale going to the cause. Also during the month, guests shared their breast cancer stories on Facebook and who they “pink for” by signing in-store posters.
Lubbock, Texas-based United Supermarkets operates 51 stores under four distinct formats: United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos United and United Express.
