Wal-Mart to Open 3 Sam's Club Stores in Ontario
TORONTO - Wal-Mart Canada on Monday said it would open Sam's Club warehouse stores in three cities in Ontario, triggering more competition among retailers and grocers in Canada.
TWal-Mart said it will invest C$60 million ($40 million) and create about 1,200 jobs as it opens stores in Vaughan and Pickering, near Toronto, by the fall. Another store is scheduled to open in London, Ontario.
A Wal-Mart Canada spokesman said the company plans to open four to six Sam's Club stores this year, Reuters reports. Wal-Mart already operates Sam's Club in the United States, Brazil, China, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
Merchandise will include appliances, electronics, office supplies, apparel, home furnishings, books, auto supplies and food.
