Wal-Mart to Stop Issuing Sales Estimates
BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. said yesterday it is going to quit issuing sales estimates for each retail period on the Saturday after the end of the period.
In a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, the retailer said it will continue providing the figures on the Thursday after the end of the retail period.
On this past Saturday, Wal-Mart reported its same-store sales rose an estimated 2.2 percent in January.
