Walmart Pay Available in More States
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has introduced its Walmart Pay solution in 14 more states and Washington, D.C., enabling shoppers to pay by smartphone.
The states are North Dakota, where the Bentonville, Ark.-based mega-retailer operates 14 stores; Iowa (nearly 60); South Dakota (14); Nebraska (more than 40); Indiana (more than 110); Michigan and Kentucky (more than 90 each); Tennessee (more than 135); Missouri (nearly 140); Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina (more than 420, collectively); Colorado (close to 100); and Ohio (almost 150). Washington, D.C., has three Walmart locations.
The company debuted the platform – its response to services such as Apple Pay – late last year, and rolled it out into more than 600 stores in Arkansas and Texas this past May, with plans to complete a nationwide launch by the first half of next year. Earlier this month, the platform also became available in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
