Wegmans to Hold Veggie Party Weekend

Who says vegetables are no fun? Certainly not Wegmans Food Markets Inc., which will offer a Veggie Party weekend on March 8-9, featuring balloons, activities for kids and “passports” with coupons to direct shoppers to tasting and cooking demo stations.

When customers enter any Wegmans store from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the weekend, they can enter a drawing to win a “Love Your Veggies” gift bag packed with products to enhance the natural flavor of vegetables. For the kids, the Rochester, N.Y.-based grocer will offer a scavenger hunt card that involves picking up veggie stickers at each station, an activity sheet, and temporary tattoos.

Samples Across the Store

Samples expected to be offered across the store include shaved Brussels sprouts in the produce department; spicy Hunan mushrooms at the Veggie Bar; cider-glazed carrots sweetened with a touch of honey, or roasted cauliflower topped with Parmigiano Reggiano, in the prepared food section; zesty Szechuan beef and veggies in stir-fry sauce in the meat department; crudités dipped in red pepper hummus in the dairy section; and veggie smoothies made with the Ninja blender in general merchandise.

Family-owned Wegmans operates 83 stores supermarket chain in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Massachusetts.
