Wegmans Location Debuting Monthly H&W Series
The Wegmans Food Markets store in Columbia, Md., and Saint Agnes Hospital have joined forces to offer “Wellness at Wegmans,” a monthly speaker series presented by physicians and health care experts at the Baltimore hospital.
The free series will take place at the Wegmans Market Cafe on the second Monday of each month, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., from Oct. 8 through June 10. Attendees can partake of refreshments and will receive recipes and a gift. To procure the required reservations, shoppers can visit the store’s service desk or call 443-537-2900. Further information on topics and speakers is available online.
“Wegmans is all about getting healthy food on the table fast and easy,” said Columbia store manager Wendy Webster, “so we loved the idea of joining forces with Saint Agnes to present our customers with the latest, greatest information on all kinds of health topics.”
The Rochester, N.Y.-based grocer’s healthy-living initiatives already include its “Eat Well, Live Well” guidelines and fresh-cut veggie and fruit stations.
“This new series underscores our continued commitment to serving Howard County residents and to new approaches for educating and inspiring individuals and families to live longer, healthier lives,” noted Bonnie Phipps, CEO of Saint Agnes Hospital.
Among the series' scheduled topics are healthy family meals, breast health, stress reduction, weight management, cancer screening and treatment options, heart health, and pain management and injury prevention.
Family-owned Wegmans operates 80 stores in New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
