Weis Launches In-store Beer Cafes
The way Pennsylvanians can purchase beer continues to evolve, with the opening of two beer cafes by Weis Markets Inc., with a third expected to open this fall.
Once restricted to purchasing beer in state-operated stores, Keystone State residents can now not only purchase beer at a Weis supermarket but also consume it on site. Sunbury, Pa.-based Weis has opened two beer cafes in as many weeks in the Delaware Valley -- at its Doylestown store last week, and the latest in East Norriton this week.
Wide Selection of Suds
The 35-seat East Norriton café sells beer for take-out and on-premise consumption and offers 300 to 400 varieties, including a wide selection of imported and locally sourced craft beers. Weis plans to open a third cafe in its Conshohocken store in the fall.
Founded in 1912, Weis Markets Inc. operates 165 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia.
