Whole Foods to Help Lift Shoppers Spirits This Month
As part of the ongoing “Be Good to Your Whole Body” initiative at its Whole Body departments, Whole Foods Market will train its sights on elevating customers’ moods naturally during the month of October.
The retailer is offering in-store lectures by Whole Body experts and podcasts to provide shoppers with ideas and tips on attaining an even keel.
“A home-cooked meal will always be comforting, but research has shown that healthy eating patterns in general can help control mood swings by keeping blood sugar levels in check and providing a steady supply of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytonutrients,” explained Whole Foods nutrition consultant Malia Curran. “A healthy diet with plenty of nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, tryptophan, folate and even moderate amounts of dark chocolate can help maintain a balanced state of mind.”
In addition to nutrition and diet, Whole Foods recommends herbal teas, mind/body therapies such as meditation and breathing, exercise and massage; and natural and homeopathic remedies to aid in maintaining a healthy mood.
The company offers several online resources at www.wholefoodsmarket.com, among them audio podcasts dealing with nutrients for mood balance, causes of mood imbalance and science-based herbal approaches, and breath and meditation for stress release. Local stores will hold their own related events.
Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods employs over 50,000 Team Members and has more than 275 stores in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
