Winn-Dixie Appoints James P. Olson to Board
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. said Friday it had appointed James P. Olson as the ninth member of the company's board of directors.
With more than 35 years of national and international industry experience, Olson has held executive positions in major corporations such as PepsiCo, Inc., Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery, and Kraft Jacobs Suchard, Inc. Most recently he served as s.v.p. of operations for PepsiCo International.
As part of the selection process set forth in the company's plan of reorganization and approved by the bankruptcy court, Olson was endorsed by the post-effective date committee, which consists of certain members of Winn-Dixie's former creditors' committee; recommended by the company's nominating and corporate governance committee; and elected by the current board of directors.

OMAHA, Neb. - Regional independent No Frills Supermarkets and supplier MBA Poultry last week delivered 4,200 pounds of the latter's Smart Chicken to a local food pantry to help feed needy families affected by an extremely cold winter.
"Our friends and neighbors are making some tough choices," said No Frills v.p. of marketing Lonnie Eggers. "Although we've had a couple nice days here, we're not through with winter, yet. Hopefully, this will help some families make it past the worst of it."
MBA Poultry's Smart Giving program is a partnership with grocery retailers nationwide. For every 10 pounds of chicken sold, one pound is donated to the retailer's preferred charity.
