Regional independent Stater Bros. Supermarkets is teaming up with Mollen Immunization Clinics to offer flu vaccinations at all 167 stores starting September 1 through October 23.

Drugstores team up to enhance value of generics

Publix Super Markets Inc. and United Supermarkets LLC will both shortly roll out flu immunization programs.

For the first time, pharmacy purchases at Landover, Md.-based Giant Food, LLC can now rack up points for the Ahold USA chain’s “Gas Rewards” program.

In a statement submitted as part of a congressional hearing yesterday, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) continued its campaign to raise awareness of pharmacy’s ability to help patients take their medications correctly, save and improve lives, and reduce health care costs, and highlighted the importance to this effort of technology-based strategies such as electronic prescribing and electronic medication records.

Delhaize America has signed a three-year contract with Catalyst Rx, the pharmacy benefit management (PBM) subsidiary of Rockville, Md.-based Catalyst Health Solutions, Inc., under the terms of which Catalyst will continue to manage pharmacy benefits for the Delhaize-owned Food Lion grocery chain’s 55,000 members and begin doing the same for sister banner Hannaford Bros. Co.’s 20,000 members on Jan. 1, 2011.
