GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Spartan Stores Inc. here intends to rebrand its recently acquired Felpausch Food Centers, after it completes an aggressive remodeling schedule and a retooling of the merchandise mix.

MINNEAPOLIS - Nash Finch Co. here has added two members to its board of directors: one-time grocer Sam K. Duncan, 55, now chairman, president and c.e.o. of OfficeMax Inc.; and retired U.S. Army Major General Hawthorne L. ("Peet") Proctor, 60, managing partner of Proctor & Boone LLC.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Boosted by lower expenses and improved gross margins, quarterly net profits for Nash Finch Co. here more than doubled, the company said yesterday. Net earnings for the second quarter ended June 16 were $9.6 million, or 70 cents per share, up from $4.1 million, or 31 cents per share, a year ago.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Spartan Stores, Inc., here has completed a previously announced acquisition of 20 grocery stores, two fuel centers and three convenience stores from G&R Felpausch Co.
