NEW YORK - Several major retailers released October store sales today. Discounters and other value-oriented merchants reported the best results.

SeeBeyond, global provider of eBI solutions, on Monday announced that Target Corporation has selected SeeBeyond as its enterprise-wide standard for internal application integration as well as its eBusiness integration needs.

Retail giants Kmart Corp., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Target Corp. are engaging in a price war prompted by the return of Kmart's famous BlueLight discount campaign. However, Wal-Mart and Target seem to be gaining market share on Kmart due to their retaliatory price cuts.

Target Corp. on Tuesday reported earnings per share for the second quarter ended August 4, 2001 of 30 cents, compared with 28 cents in the second quarter ended July 29, 2000.

Kmart has released a statement in response to the Target lawsuit (see "Target to Sue Kmart Over Advertising," Aug. 21). The company remains committed to its 'Dare to Compare' pricing campaign.
