    BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- December looked to have been a much better month for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., compared to November, as the world's largest retailer said it expects to post a 1.6 percent gain in same-store sales for the five-week period, thanks to a boost in holiday sales.

    BENTONVILLE, Ark. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. here, said it is conducting a voluntary recall of more than 70,000 Holiday Time Christmas Mug Gift Sets distributed by the retailer because of a choking hazard. No injuries had been reported as of yesterday afternoon.
