Whole Foods Launching Atlanta Restaurant
Whole Foods Market is opening its first free-standing restaurant in the Southeastern United States next week.
Scheduled to open June 1, The Roast is a fast-casual Brazilian eatery that will operate next to the Austin, Texas-based grocer's revamped store in Atlanta’s Midtown neighborhood, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The Roast will serve churrasco, or Brazilian-style grilled meat, said Quentin Arndt, Whole Foods Market South region prepared foods coordinator.
Customers will be able to build their own bowls with fire-roasted protein – including vegetarian and vegan options – sautéed greens, grains, a sauce and up to five other add-ins, all via ordering kiosks. A seasonal menu also will offer a half-dozen signature bowls alongside vegetarian and vegan options such as charred tofu or crisped cauliflower.
Arndt also noted that customers can expect to see some “exciting” menu collaborations. The store has teamed with area chefs, and for the eatery’s launch, restaurateur Kevin Gillespie, owner of Gunshow and Revival, will create a Flavor of the Andes bowl, which will feature Peruvian red chicken over roasted purple potatoes and golden beets, finished with aji amarillo sauce, roasted peanuts and mint, the AJC reported. Customers can enjoy this and other bowls along with a selection of local and regional draft beer and cocktails in the evenings, when a separate menu of “bar bites” also will be available.
The restaurant will be able to accommodate up to 48 people, according to Atlanta magazine. All may stay longer to enjoy a game of billiards or listen to a DJ set.
