BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is launching its $4 generic prescription program in 11 additional states tomorrow, making the program available in all of its U.S. pharmacies.

PITTSBURGH -- Giant Eagle Inc. here has expanded its $4 generic prescription program in its 93 Pennsylvania in-store pharmacies covering between 125 and 150 of the most popular pharmaceuticals, and 314 total prescriptions.

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Safeway, Inc. last week formed a strategic alliance with four major health care insurers to assist its customers with information about the Medicare Part D prescription drug program.

MINNEAPOLIS - Target Corp. said it has expanded its discounted generic drug program to all of its 1,287 pharmacies, which will now offer a 30-day supply of certain generic drugs for $4.

KANSAS CITY -- The $4 generic drug movement picked up more steam this week when Price Chopper, this market's most pervasive grocery banner, declared it would offer more than 300 generic prescriptions at $4 each at 29 store pharmacies in the Kansas City area, plus two in Topeka and two in St. Joseph.
