Gourmet supermarket Fairway Market reportedly plans to open a store in the Westchester County town of Pelham Manor in mid to late 2009.

Their agreement calls for 18 more branches to open by the end of the year.

Current corporate office will be expanded to accommodate job growth.

Regional retailer Marsh will vacate the building by next January.

The regional retailer is opting instead for a central location in Orlando to serve Charlotte County, Fla. stores.

In a $565 million deal, Smithfield Foods Inc., of Smithfield, Va. is selling its Smithfield Beef Group Inc. to Brazil-based JBS SA, the same firm that is also buying Kansas City, Mo.-based National Beef Packing Co., the nation's fourth largest beef processor, for $560 million.
