MINNEAPOLIS - Food retailer and distributor Nash Finch Company today reported earnings of $6.7 million, or 55 cents per diluted share, in the fourth quarter ended Dec. 29, 2001, compared to $5.2 million, or 45 cents per diluted share.

MINNEAPOLIS - Food retailer and distributor Nash Finch Company today reported that net earnings rose 50 percent to $6.0 million for the third quarter ended October 6, 2001, compared to net earnings of $4.0 million reported for the third quarter of 2000.

Nash Finch Company (Nasdaq: NAFC - news), a Minneapolis-based food retailer and distributor, today announced the company has gained the business of several market-leading customers representing $70 million in sales on an annual basis.

Nash Finch has filed a lawsuit alleging that "person or persons unknown--possibly employees--posted confidential information" about the company on a Yahoo! message board. The Edina, Minn.-based company's suit claims "breach of contract and misappropriation of trade secrets" and stipulates that if "the defendants turn out to be current or former employees, they would have violated Nash Finch's Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and Associate Handbook."

Nash Finch Company on Monday announced its completed acquisition of U Save Foods Inc. through a purchase of U Save's capital stock. Headquartered in Omaha, Neb., U Save Foods was a privately-held company with 14 supermarkets operating in Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado.

Nash Finch Company and U Save Foods, Inc. today confirmed that they are in discussions for Nash Finch to acquire U Save Foods through a purchase of U Save's stock.
