    MIAMI -- Hot on the heels of its decision to license the BK Joe coffee brand in the grocery market, Burger King here will be branching into non-menu products, including snacks, confections, ice cream, and desserts, all of which are "destined for supermarkets, club stores, convenience, and in some cases (snacks) vending," Bill Cross, partner and director of food-to-food programs at Montclair, N.J.-based Broad Street Licensing, which is handling the licensing deal, told Progressive Grocer. No rollout date has been scheduled yet, he added.

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The 6th annual Winn-Dixie Stores Foundation, Inc. Charity Classic golf tournament, presented by Wachovia, generated a record $1.3 million, Winn-Dixie said yesterday. The tournament, which is the only fundraiser for the nonprofit Winn-Dixie Stores Foundation, was held Nov. 2 on the Slammer & Squire and the King & The Bear courses at World Golf Village near St. Augustine, Fla.
  • Harris Teeter Eyes Expansion in '07

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Ruddick Corp., the parent company of Southeastern supermarket chain Harris Teeter, said last week it plans to open 22 new stores during fiscal 2007, resulting in an expected 15.6 percent increase in retail square footage as compared to a 8.4 percent increase in fiscal 2006.
